For a few months, we have been kicking around a social event for our Lake Country Cruisers members. Since we kicked off our Show Car season last October, Dock 633 has been one of our supporters with very generous $50 Gift Certificates for lunch or dinner at their restaurant.

During the week, the 2 pm-to-4 pm time slot is perfect because the early dinner crowd arrives around 4:30 for early dinner. Lake Country Cruisers Jan 11, 2022 Car Show – A Perfect Day!

Another Spectacular Lake Placid Florida Winter Day For a Car Show!

Dateline: 1-14-22 – Don’t you just love winter in Florida? We sure do! The days are mostly cool-to-slightly warm, low humidity, and a gentle breeze – PERFECT weather for a car show! We racked up 61 cars that registered and a handful that were not. And a BIG THANKS to our friends at the Lake Placid Dunkin Donuts for the coffee!

Here’s a Slide Show overview of the sights of the show. To see the below images BIG, just click on one, and the Slide Show will launch.

Our Door Prize Winners were: Buddy Hodgdon (2008 Corvette Pace Car Replica), Ken Stewart (1971 Custom Peterbilt Truck), Leonard Miller (1991 Pontiac Trans-Am Convertible), and Glen Hutson (1963 Chevrolet Corvair). To be in the running to win one of our spectacular Door Prizes, you have to register.

Our 50/50 Take-Home was $235 (not too shabby!). And the Cruiser that went home very happy was Scott & Patti Sortor. (2005 Corvette Convertible)

Our 50/50 Drawing Lady, Elizabeth pulled the lucky 50/50 number!

And we now have a 50/50 Runner-Up prize of a $50 Gift Certificate to Dock 633! And our Runner-Up Winner was Jack Murphy (2006 Corvette Coupe).

The next show you attend, don’t zoom off after the 50/50 drawing because there’s one more prize! If no one claims the Runner-Up number, we will draw another number. So, hang out with the Cruisers just a little while longer, it could be your Lucky Day!

We had our Cruiser of the Month drawing, and our Winner was; Sam Wolf, with his 1966 Austin Mini Pick-Up.

Sam’s “Mini” (a proper English Mini, not a modern BIG “Mini”) will be our Feature Display Cruiser of the Month and will be parked sideways next to our sign-in tent.

We even had some Rolling Thunder rumble through the show!

And lastly, our Kettle Corn man, Norn Zintz was very happy because we nearly cleaned him out of Kettle Corn. So much so, he’ll be back next month!

To see the below images BIG, just click on one, and the Slide Show will launch.

We also want to thank everyone that got lunch in the Legion’s Mess Hall Kitchen. Doing so very much supports the Legion. Legion Commander, Fred Pierce, Chief Cook Dwane, and the rest of the Mess Hall Kitchen crew appreciate your business.

Our next Car Show at The Legion will be on February 12, from 11 am to 2 pm. Thanks for being with us, and we’ll see you next month. – Scott Pete, & Ron

PS – Do you have any car friends that have NOT been to a Lake Country Cruisers Car Show? BRING THEM WITH YOU next month!

PSS – Bring your dog, too! Dogs love car shows!

Cruisers Club Supports Veterans Services of Highlands County!

Dateline: 1.10.22 – The Lake Placid American Legion Post 25 has been home to the Lake Country Cruisers (and Highlands County Corvettes) for several years now. As part of Lake Country Cruisers Community Outreach, we are joining the Lake Placid American Legion in their support of Veterans Services of Highlands County.

We are very happy to announce that thanks to your support of our car shows, last month Lake Country Cruisers was able to make a $500 donation to Veterans Services of Highlands County!

When we made our donation on December 21, 2021, at the monthly meeting in Sebring, we were all impressed with the team that runs Veterans Services of Highlands County. The only person in their organization that is monetarily compensated is the Secretary. Everyone else is a volunteer.

Here is some information from the County Office website…

About the Highlands County Veterans Services:

The Highlands County Veterans Services, located in Sebring, FL, provides support for veterans of the US Armed Forces. Veteran Services connects veterans with several government agencies and nonprofit organizations at the federal, Florida state, and Sebring level. These services include veteran benefits assistance, services for veterans with disabilities, and information about medical care, insurance, and education benefits. The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) also provides veteran services in Sebring. Continue reading “Cruisers Club Supports Veterans Services of Highlands County!”

Lake Country Cruisers December 11, 2021 Car Show

Cars, Coffee, Cookies, Soft Pretzels, Door Prizes, and a Tidy 50/50 Payout!

Dateline 1.3.22. 2022: It was a delightful late Autumn day, partly cloudy, 80-degrees, and breezy; PERFECT for a car show!

Perhaps it was the attendance of our Snow Bird Cruisers that increased attendance as we had 77 cars registered. That’s a nice bump from November’s attendance of 56 cars. Thanks, everyone for coming out!

This month we also enjoyed coffee, soft pretzels, and chocolate chip cookies, courtesy of the generous folks at the Lake Placid Wawa store.

Click the below images to start the slide show.

Our Door Prize Winners were; Justin Donahue, Bill Test, Marvin Garwood, Jack Murphy, Kikki Hoadley, Charlene Wood & Mark, Alan Geiger, and Dick Roddie.

Our 50/50 winner was Craig Vedernjak, owner of a Metallic Gray 1955 Ford Fairlane. Craig’s take-home was $300

And lastly, our Lake Country Cruiser of the Month was, Donald Meitz, owner of a black 1972 Chevelle Coupe. We don’t have a photo of Donald and his Chevelle because he escaped before we could get a pic, so he’s still at large.

At the next car show, don’t be surprised if the air smells somewhat sweet!

Our next Lake Country Cruisers Car Show will be January 8, 11 am-to-1:30 pm. Same great place, the Lake Placid American Legion Post 25. See you there! – Scott, Pete, & Ron

PS – Later that day, as part of the Lake Placid Christmas Parade, Bob Larson and his wife were honored as Masters of Ceremony for all their years of service to the Lake Placid community for their successful running of the Lake Placid Caladium Festival Car Shows.

Pete Richie will be running the Caladium Car Show for 2022.

LakeCountryCruisers.com Grand Debut!

Lake Country Cruisers Car Club Now Has a Website!

Greetings Everyone!
Lake Country Cruisers is very happy to announce our first website, http://www.LakeCountryCruisers.com. All Lake Country Cruisers announcements and events coverage will happen here. When we publish a new post (announcement), our “newsletter” (RSS e-mail feed) will be sent to everyone on our e-mail list with brief announcements or overviews. We do not sell, rent, or lend our e-mail list and you will only hear from us when we publish.

For those of you that have been coming to our Cruisers shows since last October, you have noticed some changes. Pete Richie, Ron Ellerman, and I are co-managing the club. Beginning with last October’s show, we started asking for a $5.00 entrance fee/donation. This not only enables us to get nice car guy door prizes, but it also pays for the gas cards and Lotto tickets.

We have decided to take Lake Country Cruisers into the direction of, not just better door prizes and bigger 50/50 payouts, but the direction of “service to the community”.

Lake Country Cruisers is hitching our cart to the Lake Placid American Legion, Post 25 in their support of the Veterans Council of Highlands County. We could have gone with one of the fine national organizations but we chose to help our Vet neighbors in Highlands County. We believe that you will be pleased with what we have done, thanks to you! More to come soon!

There are several people and businesses that we want to thank. Continue reading “LakeCountryCruisers.com Grand Debut!”
