Lake Country Cruisers Gets Some Newspaper Ink

Lake Country Cruisers Community Outreach is getting attention.

Dateline: 4.28.22, Photo and newspaper article by Deborah Latter While perusing through the April 27, 2022 edition of Highlands News-Sun‘s “Lake Placid – Local News – Your Town” section, I was pleasantly surprised to see the headline, “Lake Country Cruisers donates to SFSC Automotive programs”!

The week before, Deborah Letter, of the South Florida State College’s Office of Community Relations and Marketing, interviewed me about the Lake Country Cruisers. As you know, last March, thanks to YOUR SUPPORT, Lake Country Cruisers was able to donate $500 to the Bill Jarrett Automotive Scholarship Program. Bill Jarrett Ford is located on Rt. 27 in Avon Park, Florida.

South Florida State College’s Foundation Scholarships web page describes the Bill Jarrett Automotive Scholarship as such, “For full-time students who are a member of the SFSC Automotive Service Technology Program and/or a member of the SFSC Auto Body Repair and Refinishing Program”.

Pete, Ron, George, Christy, and I all felt this would be the perfect place for us, as “car people” to contribute to, in addition to the Veterans Council of Highlands County. This is part of Lake Country Cruisers’ community outreach effort. By the end of the year, our goal is to make another round of $500 donations to SFST and the Veterans Council of Highlands County.

When Deborah interviewed me I thought her article was just for the college’s social media, so on behalf of the Cruisers Team, a big THANKS!

The scans of the printed article are a little hard to read, so Deborah has allowed us to include her words below. When Ron and I went to the college on March 30, 2022, we thought we were going to drop off a bank check and have a quick peek of the college’s shop, and that would be that Continue reading “Lake Country Cruisers Gets Some Newspaper Ink”

Cruisers 2nd Meet’n Eat at Mr. Sammy’s Pizza

Good Conversation! Good Pizza! Good Beer! And Good Chicken Parm!

Dateline: 3.28.22 – Lake Country Cruisers racked up our second Meet’n Eat Event, this time at Mr. Sammy’s New York Style Pizza. A big “THANKS!” to Sammy, as everyone got a free big slice (more like TWO slices!) and a cold draft or cold soda pop.

We had nine Cruisers that included: Justin Donahue, Jim Maze, Bob Wolf, Christy Silsby, Ron Ellerman, Brian Geever, Jack Murphy, Bob Berard, and yours truly. We bench raced and solved the world’s problems in just two hours!

We will be making an announcement for our April Meet’n Eat later this week, as well as an announcement concerning a project we’ve been working on for a few months now that we believe everyone will be happy about.

Our next Lake Country Cruisers Car Show will be April 9, 2022, at the Lake Placid American Legion, Post 25. We will be back at Mr. Sammy’s in July.

That’s all for now! Scott, Ron, & Pete

Bring Your American Flags This Saturday!

Let’s Festoon the American Legion With American Flags!

Dateline: 2.10.22 – Hey Cruisers, this popped into my head the other day, and it will be SO EASY to do.

The Highlands County area has a rich car culture, especially considering how rural it is here. “Car Culture” as we know it, is a uniquely “American” creation and we are all part of it. (yes, we like foreign cars too)

Lake Country Cruisers has the perfect place for American Car Culture, the Lake Placid “American” Legion, Post 25. And we always start our show with our 11 am Pledge of Allegiance.

So, if you are planning to be at this Saturday’s Lake Country Cruisers Car Show, BRING SOME AMERICAN FLAGS!

That’s about the right amount of flags!

Bring what you can, and let’s light up the show with the Red, White, and Blue!

Hope to see you This Saturday! – Scott, Pete, & Ron
